(SHB) – Chiang Mai Hmong New Year Celebration held at Mae Rim, Thailand from January 1 to 3, 2015. Mae Rim is a city located about 20 miles to the North of Chiang Mai. Driving time from Chiang Mai to Mae Rim takes about 30 to 45 minutes depend on the traffic whether it is busy or not and the time of the day.

Free admission for ages for all events included night concerts and Miss Hmong Pageant competition.

There were three stages setup for the entertainment; one for the Miss Hmong Pageant Competition, one for the nightly concert, and one for the elder to sing Hmong Traditional Folk songs.

Pable Lor (Paj Npleg Lauj), one of the Miss Hmong Pageant Contestant, said that one of the reason for her to compete in the Miss Hmong Pageant was to show to the Hmong community that Hmong girls have the ability to show their talents and their beauty.

The winner of the Miss Hmong Pageant Competition receives 20,000.00 baht (Thai) equivalent to $615.00 U.S. Dollars. Second place receives 10,000 baht (Thai) equivalent to $308.00 U.S. Dollars, and Third place receives 5,000 baht (Thai) equivalent to $154.00 U.S. Dollars.
