A man arrested for opium poppy plants value more than $500 million

SUAB HMONG NEWS (05/23/2017) – After deputies got a tip last week on opium poppy plants located near Claremont, a Catawba County town about 40 miles north of Charlotte, and were able to obtain a search warrant to search the field.

A man identified by the Catawba County Sheriff as Cody Xiong was arrested and charged with manufacture and trafficking by possesion on Tuesday morning.

The sheriff estimates the plants could be valued more than $500 million.

According to WBTV report, plants were being pulled up Tuesday and deputies say they are investigating.
