A man charged with the shooting led one dead and one in critical condition

SUAB HMONG NEWS (10/28/2019) – Pheng Lee, 41, of 1288 Gardiod Ave. NE in Valdeses, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting occurred on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at around noon in Morganton.

Lee was apprehended by Burke County Sheriff’s Office deputies with a K-9 officer on Sundown Road, several miles from where the shooting occurred

Lee is being held in the Burke-Catawba Jail without bond and has a court date of Oct. 28.

The victims were father and son, and the son, who was 19 years old, died at the scene. The father, who is 45, was airlifted to Atrium hospital in Charlotte in critical condition, Lowdermilk said.

The names of the victims and suspect have yet to be released.

UPDATED as 10/28/2019:  The father later passed away at the hospital.  The father identified by the Hmong community as Nai Lor, the lead singer for a Hmong band “Reflection Band”.
