Chee Yang said Jerry Daniels, a CIA officer who worked in Laos and Thailand from the early 1960s to the early 1980s, was the main person who came up with the idea to create something to recognize the Hmong SGU, Special Guerrilla Unit.

“Jerry said we have to wait after 20 years because that’s the policy of his work to release classified information…” said Chee Yang.
