NOTE.  THE SAME CEREMONY WILL BE HELD IN OTHER STATES, CALIFORNIA, WASHINGTON, FLORIDA, AND ELSEWERE AS WELL.  HMONG REPORT WILL BE COVERING THE CEREMONY IN SACRAMENTO, CA AND SUAB HMONG NEWS WILL BE COVERING THE CEREMONY IN WAUSAU, WI.

As you may have been aware, a tragic event shocked the Central Wisconsin Hmong Community this past summer. On June 11, Pa Nhia Vue of Altoona, WI was strangled to death by her husband Ying Xiong in their apartment. Her body was then dragged to a shed in the back yard and then burned. To make matters worse, {sidebar id=1}when Pa Nhia’s body was released from the coroner’s office, Hmong community leaders could not come to an agreement as to who would give her a proper Hmong burial. As a result, a last minute and brief funeral took place at a local women’s shelter on August 1, 2013.

Ying Xiong is in custody and awaiting trial. Pa Nhia leaves behind 7 children ages one to 21. Therefore we are inviting you to attend a community ceremony in honor of Pa Nhia Vue’s life as a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and a caring human being. Sadly, she is also the victim of Domestic Abuse, an issue that has taken far too many lives in our community.

We ask that you come join us in our fight to end Domestic Violence not only in the Wisconsin Hmong community but in all communities. We have invited national and local speakers, members of law enforcements, local social service agencies, public officials and community leaders to come together and to work in partnership and to join our community “Call to Action” so that tragedies like this never happen again. As a committee of concerned citizens, we recognize your leadership in the community and strongly urge you to attend this community vigil and stand by together with us in our fight to end Domestic Violence. Your presence and support is important! We are excited to take a stand with you and look forward to a continued dialogue and partnership. The details of the event are as follows:
