Conflict between Wausau Hmong Community and Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Association

Milwaukee, WI — Suab Hmong News exclusive interviewed Xiong A. Lor, Spoke person for Wausau Hmong Rally, and Blong Moua, a Wausau Hmong Community, on the conflict between Wausau Hmong Community (WHC) and Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Association (WAHMA).

Xiong A. Lor said that the conflict begins when WAHMA missed used the money generated from the Wausau Hmong New Year and WHC wanted to come up with a better plan to proper use of the money because Wausau Hmong New Year has been celebrated for the last 15 years and WHC wanted to continue the celebration of the Hmong New Year to the future.{sidebar id=1}

“The WAHMA wrote a letter to the bank and they withdraw all $30,000.00 that generated from the Wausau Hmong New Year without consult with the Wausau Hmong New Year Committee” Said Xiong X. Lor, Spoke Person for Wausau Hmong Rally.

Xiong A. Lor continued said that WAHMA used some of the money generated from the Wausau Hmong New Year for funeral and education scholarship.  

Blong Moua, a Wausau Hmong Community Leader, said that the he concerns about the conflict.  

“We are lacking leadership in the Wausau Hmong Community in both the WAHMA and in the Wausau Hmong Community…  Seems like every one declared themselves, including myself, that we are Hmong leader but when there are issues, we cannot come together like right now to find solution to solve them” said Blong Moua, a Wausau Hmong Community Leader.

The Wausau Hmong Community Rally group filed two law sues against the WAHMA in court to try to solve the conflict.

We wrote two emails to Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Association requested for an interview but we haven’t receive any replies up to date.
