Hmong Wausau community held their first annual festival at the Eastbay Sports Complex in Wausau, Wisconsin from July 29 to 30, 2017.

SUAB HMONG NEWS (08/01/2017) – Hmong Wausau community held their first annual festival at the Eastbay Sports Complex in Wausau, Wisconsin from July 29 to 30, 2017.

Yee Leng Xiong, Event Chair, said the event got many supports from many levels of the city and state.

“This event is possible because of the many friends at Central Convention Visitors bureau and Wisconsin Department of Tourism. These organizations are our partners. We work together to get this event going. It is better to collaborate with other organizations to do festival such as this so we could further our goal for the community” said Yee Leng Xiong.

(Wisconsin) Governor Scott Walker was at the 2017 Hmong Wausau Festival event and he was with Wachong Vang, one of the son of General Vang Pao, to cut the ribbon during the opening ceremony on July 29, 2017.

Gov. Scott Walker thanks the veterans at the beginning of his speech. “I wanted to thanks every one of our veterans here, particularly those served during the Vietnam War” said Gov. Scott Walker.

This is the first time Gov. Scott Walker appear at Hmong Festival in Wisconsin.
