SUAB HMONG NEWS (09/27/2017) — Top-Spin or “Tuj Lub” is one of Hmong original sport and it exists since early 1900.

Cher Bee Lor, Co-founder of Hmong first Top-Spin field built in the United State, said during the war in China, Top-Spin used by many Hmong tribes as a weapon to kill their enemy. About early 1900, Top-Spin became a traditional sport in the Hmong community and Hmong play and competes it during the first three days of the Hmong New Year.

“Now in America, we play Top-Spin as a sport to compete in Hmong events and to help us to stay healthy” said Cher Bee Lor.

Top-Spin has eight levels with in each game. There are six players in a team. The team must score at least one in a level in order to advance to the next level with in a game. There are score plus bonus score for each level. The further of the level, the more of the bonus score. If a team play a perfect game, total score is 75. “If the six players cannot make a score for a level, the team is automatically out and losing the round” said Shoua Xue Lor.

“Hmong best Top-Spin teams are in Wisconsin and Minnesota because there are more Hmong population there and they are more competitive” said Cher Bee Lor.
