Hmong American Center in Wausau, Wisconsin received $12,000.00 grant from the Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Authority to help for the upcoming Hmong Wausau Festival which will be held on July 28 to 29, 2018 at the Eastbay Sport Complex in Wausau, WI.

SUAB HMONG NEWS (05/22/2018) – Hmong American Center in Wausau, Wisconsin received $12,000.00 grant from the Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Authority to help for the upcoming Hmong Wausau Festival which will be held on July 28 to 29, 2018 at the Eastbay Sport Complex in Wausau, WI.

Yee Leng Xiong, Executive Director for the Hmong American Center, said last year’s goal for the Hmong Wausau Festival was to have about 3,000 spectators but it turned 8,000 spectators; Renting over 1,300 hotel rooms and generated total economic impacted of 1.03 million dollars.   “We are the third largest Hmong festival in the State of Wisconsin and the fourth largest in the Midwest and the largest one in the Central of Wisconsin” said Yee Leng Xiong.

Yee Leng Xiong continues said that there are changes in the 2018 Hmong Wausau Festival.  “This year we will move all the vendors to the parking area so all the vendors are all together.  The event will be open to the night to allow more fun for families and friends.  The admission increase to $5.00 per person compare to $4.00 per person last year to help for the evening program.” said Yee Leng Xiong.  Other changes included adding senior soccer tournament to the sport tournament.

There will be four rounds for the Mr. Hmong Royalty pageant competition.  “The four round are Introduction, Platform, Talent, and final questions” said Nou Lor, Mr. Hmong Royalty Pageant Coordinator.  For more information to get into the Mr. Hmong Royalty pageant competition, call 715-551-1138.

There will be a limited of 12 persons in the singing competition and 12 Hmong dance groups compete in the dancing competition.  Registration fees are required for all competitions.  Singing registration fee is $25.00 per person.  Dancing registration fee is $50.00 per team.  All registration fee are none refund.  The deadline to register is June 30, 2018.  Late registration fee is $50.00 addition to the regular registration fee for both singing and dancing competition.  Prize for dancing competition: 1st Place will receive $1,200.00,  2nd Place will receive $600.00,  and 3rd Place will receive $300.00.  Prize for singing competition: 1st Place will receive $600.00, 2nd Place will receive $300.00, and 3rd Place will receive $150.00.
