Hmong-Lao New Year Celebration 2014-15 starts November 21, 2014


(SHB) — Hmong-Lao New Year Celebration first events begin in Ban Nasala, Lak 10, and Phonsavan (Xieng Khouang) on November 21, 2014. Most celebration events last for 10 days.

There are competitions at the events such as soccer, singing, Miss Hmong Pageant and more for all spectators to enjoy.

The most exciting thing about Hmong-Lao New Year is the Hmong Traditional tossing ball “pov pob”. Hmong traditional tossing ball is an opportunity for Hmong young men and young women to look for their life time partner.

If you missed the first Hmong-Lao New Year Celebration events started on November 21, 2014, there will be the last Hmong-Lao New Year Celebration events which will be held from December 21 till the end of the year in Lak 52, Noon Hai, and Luang Prabang.

There are hundreds and hundreds of Hmong from America, French, Australia, Thailand, and other countries that are joining these special events.

“The air fare this year is cheap compared to the past…” said one of Hmong-American spectator (he wanted to stay anonymous).

Hmong-Thai New Year are coming up on December 22, 2014 in Tak province as well.
