Hmong/Lao SGU National Meeting at Minnesota State Building on March 23, 2013


Milwaukee, WI — Hmong/Lao SGU group in Minnesota held a meeting to seek funds to help the group to pursue their goal in hiring a lawyer to fight for benefits for the group.

“This organization is to lobby benefit for Hmong and Lao SGU,” said Chue Chu Cha (Tswv Txus Tsab), National President of SGU.

Many of the Hmong community leaders in the twin cities did not attend the meeting.

Former Col. Toupao Lee, a close friend with General Vang Pao, attended the meeting and voiced his concerned on the lack of the exact data of the SGU population.

“Around 1992… some one name Long Yang proposed to General Vang Pao that he found a lawyer that was willing to pursue the benefit, however, General Vang Pao did not want to pursue it… “ Said former Col. Toupao Lee.

According to Chue Chu Cha, there are currently 4500 members currently active in the SGU organization.
