Hmong-Lao Veterans in Marathon County held a ceremony on the 2017 Memorial Day weekend to pay respect and honor the Hmong-Lao Veterans Memorial statue and those who passed away.

SUAB HMONG NEWS (05/31/2017) – Hmong-Lao Veterans in Marathon County held a ceremony on the 2017 Memorial Day weekend to pay respect and honor the Hmong-Lao Veterans Memorial statue and those who passed away.

Peter Yang, Hmong American Center, said thank you to Hmong and Lao veterans who sacrificed their lives for the Secret War in Laos.

“We built this statue to remember our veterans.  It will be here forever and we will come here to pay our respect” said Peter Yang.

“This statue is very good size.  We built it to remember Hmong and Lao veterans who worked side by side with the United States in Laos” said Tongblia Xiong, Lead Hmong-Lao Chapter in Marathon County.

Hmong dancer group “Ntxhais Qaum Ntuj” performed a dance to honor Hmong and Lao Veterans.
