Suab Hmong Exclusive: The Making of “Vaj Tuam Thawj” Behind the Scene

A Hmong new movie “Vaj Tuam Thawj – The Legend of Hmong Chaofa” premiered on the big screen April 11, 2010 at Concordia University during the 3rd Annual Conference on Hmong Studies and Hmong International Film Festival in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The movie’s theme based on some fact events happened during the time the LPDR took over Laos in 1975 and the important key point on how to maintain by being a Hmong with in the political transition.  The movie touched many audiences’s heart and brought some tears by watching the realistic locations and the remake of the events.


Suab Hmong exclusive interviewed with Paul Hu Van, the director and producer of the movie, and have the permission from Paul Hu to produce a video documentary on how the movie was make with behind the scene footages.  “The really hard part of the movie was to look for good locations during the raining season in Thailand” said Paul Hu.

The making of “Vaj Tuam Thawj – The Legend of Hmong Chaofa” video exclusive from Suab Hmong Special Coverage will be released online sometimes in May.  The movie will be released on sales on Thanksgiving of 2010.
