New statue of General Vang Pao will replace the one vandalized in October 2014 in Chico, CA


CHICO, CA (SHB) – A new statue of General Vang Pao estimated cost around $150,000.00 will replace the one vandalized in Chico, CA early October 2014.

Lor Thao, President of Butte County Hmong Association in Chico, said that the new statue of General Vang will cost around $150,000.00. “The new statue will make of bronze to last and it will cost around or less than $150,000.00” Said Lor Thao.

The Butte County Hmong community and the Chico City planned to have the new statue of General Vang Pao completed by Memorial Day 2015.


Valentine’s Day events held by the Hmong community in 2015 seems to be increased throughout the United States.

The Hmong Community in Southwest of Minnesota held their Valentine’s Day event on February 21, 2015.

“The event tonight held by us, the house wives, for our husbands to tell the loves they have for us” said Mrs. Lor Vue.

“Sometimes we just do not know how to use what we already have about loving one another so Valentine’s Day is the day for us to find the love we have for one another… “ Said TongYer Yang, the keynote speaker at the event.
