SUAB HMONG NEWS (11/15/2016) — Representatives from Hmong American New Year and Minnesota Hmong New Year have been discussed to combine the two Hmong New Year Celebration into one in 2017-18.

Nengwa Vang, President of Lao Family Community of Minnesota, said the goal is to have one Hmong New Year in Minnesota.
Xou Yang, Chair of Hmong American New Year, said the goal is to have the Hmong 18 Council of Minnesota to hold the Hmong New Year.
“There will be a public meeting on February 2017 to finalize the process of merging the two Hmong New Year in Minnesota and welcome everyone to come to the metting” said Xou Yang.
Wa Houa Vue, President of Hmong 18 Council of Minnesota, said it is about time to merge the two Hmong New Year in Minnesota into one.
“If the merging success, it will be a positive one for the Hmong community. I think it is about time because you and I and other Hmong think the same thing…” said Wa Houa Vue.
The goal is to eliminate the two Hmong New Year in Minnesota, Minnesota Hmong New Year and Hmong American New Year, and create a new Hmong New Year will be held exclusively by the Hmong 18 Council of Minnesota for 2017 and 2018.
