Lao Family Community Empowerment (LCFE) is pleased to announce that the Board of
Directors, Community Advisory Committee, Stockton Hmong New Year Committee, and the
Hmong community in San Joaquin County will be hosting an appreciation lunch on February 15 from noon to 2:30 pm at the Stockton County Fairgrounds to recognize and thank the local and regional sponsors and vendors that made the 2013 Stockton Hmong New Year Festival held in November 2013 possible. Sponsors, vendors, local organizations, community members, and leaders play a vital role in the success of this cultural festivity. Because of the continuous support of our sponsors, vendors, community members, and leaders, the event grows each year with more attendees. In November 2013, we had around 10,000 attendees and over 60 vendors at the two day event held at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.
This appreciation luncheon consisting of traditional cultural dishes is being provided at no cost to the public. This luncheon is a great opportunity to learn and explore the cultural diversity of our community and to get to know the Hmong community. Community members are strongly encouraged to attend. At this year’s appreciation luncheon we expect to have several hundred participants from the Central Valley and northern California. Local leaders from community-based organizations, school districts and city, county, and state government will be participating.
Following the Stockton Hmong New Year appreciation luncheon, we will hold a drawing for the prizes from a fundraising raffle we have been conducting for the past few months. This car raffle drawing is a fundraiser for the General Vang Pao Monument Project, which is to be built on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds. General Vang Pao was a prominent leader of the Hmong people for the last five decades. This 16 foot tall bronze monument of General Vang Pao will be built and placed on the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in the near future to honor his heroic leadership and commitment to lead his people fight against communist aggression in Indo-China from 1961 to 1975 on behalf of the United States of America and his civic society leadership while living in America in the last three decades. The model of the monument will be on display at the luncheon.
