The French goverment held an event on June 8, 2013 in Aubigny Sur Nere to open a monument to represent and recognize the Hmong Community for their support during the French Indochina war from 1945 to 1954.
More than thousands of Hmong from France and other countries participated in the event and the opening ceremony of the monument.
Distinguish guests included NaoChoua Vue (President of Union Hmong France), YouaCher Thao (Municipal advisor for the city of Aubigny), Michel Autissier (Mayor for the city of Aubigny), Yves Fromion (Deputy Mayor and Member National Assembly for the state 18), and Gerard Delbauffe (Comptroller General of the Armies).
This was the first time ever that the French government recognized the Hmong community in France.
