Milwaukee Police Officer, killed while on his way home

SUAB HMONG NEWS (06/18/2019) – Milwaukee officer Kou Her, 34-year-old, 2-year veteran of Milwaukee Police Department was killed after a crash at 60th and Capitol early Tuesday morning (06/18/2019).

“At 1:35 a.m. a Milwaukee police officer was killed while driving home after the end of his duty.  The officer was identified as Kou Her.  Mr. Her was a 2-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department and also assigned to District 4th.   Officer Her was driving South Bound on North 60th Street crossing Capitol Drive when he was struck by the suspect who was traveling West bound on Capitol Drive crossing North 60th Street.  Per witness statements, the suspect was traveling a high rate speed cross the intersection through a red light when he struck officer Her” Said during the Milwaukee Police Department Press Released.

Police say witnesses not only stayed at the scene, but were able to help officers take the suspect into custody by telling them where the driver was heading.

Officer Her was taken to Froedert Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The officer’s body was taken to the Milwaukee Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted.
