Xiong Pao Moua, the Speaker of the Board of Trustees, said that the current internal issue has nothing to do with Lao Family Community of Minnesota. It involved between the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors with in Lao Family Foundation only.
“The Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees are the only ones that have role in the Lao Family Foundation. If we are the ones in charge and oversee the by-law and policies for the Lao Family Foundation then we must work together to eliminate conflict. The problem now is that the Board of Directors are not willing to work with us” said Xiong Pao Moua.
Xiong Pao Moua highlighted some of the major violations the Board of Directors of Lao Family Foundation violated:
1. The establishment of the Board has not been completed and the Board of Directors went ahead to work.
2. The Board of Directors changed the name of the foundation from Lao Family Foundation to Hmong Foundation without the knowledge of the Board of Trustees.
3. The Board of Directors removed the treasurer of the Board of Trustees from the Bank account without the knowledge of the Board of Trustees.
4. The Board of Directors changed the by-law (Txoj Cai) of the Lao Family Foundation.
5. The Board of Trustees of Lao Family are no longer in the Hmong Family Foundation.
“One of the major problem that we could not work together is due to that they do not know their role and responsibility and they do not consult with us. They did what they did when we asked them they do not respond. This is the problem we cannot work together. One of the most important… Let me tell you… one of the major important for the Board of Trustees is to get the work done for the Attorney General so there is issue free for the organization. We communicated clearly to them. The reason the Board of Trustees are taking this route is due to the lawyer of the Board of Directors wrote a letter to us and indicated that he could not contact any of the Board of Directors by phone and/or email. This is something that we cannot have it. That’s why we decided to take this route” said Sia Lor, Vice Speaker for the Board of Trustees of Lao Family Foundation.
The Board of Trustee wanted the Board of Directors to report all of the activities to them.
