SUAB HMONG NEWS (03/09/2018) – The Souvenir Band is a Hmong music band based in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Souvenir Band transition from the Millennium Band.  The Souvenir Band formed in 1998.  “I was a part of the Millennium Band and after the Millennium Band stopped, I was thinking why we start another band because we still have the drum, piano, keyboard, guitars, and all the music equipment” said Thao Houa Xiong, Lead Singer.

Thao Houa Xiong said the word “Souvenir” is a French word means “a thing that is kept as a reminder of a person, place, or event”.  “We wanted to do something to remember and we are brothers so we wanted to do something to remember in the future” said Thao Houa Xiong.

Playing music together as brothers help to keep the brothers close together.

The Souvenir Band released their first album in 2008.  “The most popular song in the first album titled “Pib Dua”” said Thao Houa Xiong.

The second album released in 2012 with a leading song titled “Tag Kis”.   All songs written by Thao Houa Xiong.

They also released a Music Video during 2016.

The Souvenir Band planned to release their third album in 2019.
