Thousands spectators attended the 2018 Hmong Wausau Festival

Gov. Scott Walker attended the 2018 Hmong Wausau Festival.

SUAB HMONG NEWS (07/31/2018) – Hmong Wausau Festival held at the EastBay Sport Complex in Wausau, Wisconsin from July 28 to 29, 2018.

Many mainstream and Hmong leaders from all over the states attended the 2018 Hmong Wausau Festival including Governor Scott Walker, Mayor of Elkgrove, CA Steve Ly (First Hmong Mayor in the United States).

The event’s attractions included Hmong Dancing competition, Singing competition, and Mr. Hmong Royal competition.   Sports tournaments included soccer, volleyball women and men, and Flag football.

Yee Leng Xiong, Chair of the event, said the different from prior year is that all the vendors moved to the main parking area.  “This year we moved all the vendors to the parking area and we have a night event open from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM” said Yee Leng Xiong.

The 2018 Hmong Wausau Festival drew approximately more than 10,000 spectators according to an interview with Yee Leng Xiong.  The actual result of the total spectators attended the festival will be announced later.
